Romney arrives in Louisiana for storm visit

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney detoured to hurricane-damaged Louisiana on Friday as he campaigned his way out of the Republican National Convention on the final leg of his quest for the White House.

The former Massachusetts governor was expected to visit an emergency command center in Lafitte, La., where emergency crews were helping victims of Hurricane Isaac. The storm brought severe flooding to the area earlier in the week before it was downgraded to a tropical storm.

Romney’s trip to Louisiana, announced less than 12 hours after he accepted the GOP presidential nomination, was sandwiched between previously announced campaign stops in Lakeland, Fla., and Cincinnati.

And then there’s this:

Obama to visit Louisiana Monday in wake of Isaac

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) – President Barack Obama will visit Louisiana on Monday to examine water and wind damage in the wake of Isaac.

White House spokesman Jay Carney announced the trip aboard Air Force One as Obama flew to Texas on Friday to speak to U.S. service members and their families.

Carney’s announcement came shortly after Obama’s presidential rival, Republican Mitt Romney, announced he would visit the New Orleans area on Friday. Carney said Obama reached his decision before Romney’s intentions became known.

I have some of the most politically astute readers of any blog on the ‘net. I am sure you can all figure this one out.

It’s ALL politics; you see, there is absolutely nothing that Romney or Obama can personally DO to help the people of Louisiana, but don’t you find it a little strange that Romney is going to Louisiana BEFORE Obama?

There’s a lot of political savvy at work here; Obama should be there NOW, he is the POTUS and he needs to act like it.

Romney is the challenger and is more Presidential NOW than Obama has been in the last 4 years!

But in all fairness to Barack Hussein Obama, the weekend is coming up and ALL of the golf courses in South Louisiana are waterlogged right now. Who wants to play on a soggy golf course?
